Dr. Nishimoto received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1987. In 1988, he completed a one-year residency in Hospital Based Geriatric Optometry at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. Dr. Nishimoto is currently a Professor and Vice President and Dean of Interprofessional Health Studies. In 1997, he received a Health Care Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Nishimoto has been a frequent contributor of articles and lectured on topics especially related to primary care and ocular disease. He is the co-author of the text "Differential Diagnosis in Primary Eye Care." Dr. Nishimoto is also currently a clinical faculty member in primary care and ocular disease at the Eye Care Center. Dr. Nishimoto is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and served as Chair of the Section on Ocular Disease.
