I am an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville Schhol of Medicine and an affiliated faculty member at the Kent School of Social Work. My research and educational interests include advanced cancer care, palliaitive and end-of-life care, death and grief, socioeconomic disparities in cancer care and telehealth interventions in palliative care.
We currently offer an established, mandatory interdisciplinary curriculum, the Interdisciplinary Curriculum for Palliative Oncology Education (iCOPE) which was funded by an NCI Cancer Education Grant (R25E). Nursing, medical, and social work students and chaplaincy reisdents learn the principles of teamwork and palliative oncology care; a variety of learning modalities are used including online interactive didactic modules, clinical experiences, reflective writing and face-to-face interactive activities.
