I am currently pursuing my DNP at Liberty University online DNP program with an expected graduation date of 08/2017. I am a Lumbee Indian ( Native American) from North Carolina. I have an education specialization in my MSN from Walden University. I work in the Nurse 24 team at Optum Health currently. I was with Alere since 2008 and then the company was sold to Optum. I have worked in disease management and on the initial assessment teams at Alere/Optum. Formerly I worked in hospice nursing, med-surg, adult health and geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology and as a PRN nurse in a hospital doing all sorts of things when called upon. I had a previous career in Social work as a Director of Social Services in 4 nursing homes before I switched careers. I greatly enjoy nursing and learning new ideas and new things.... and am very interested in the subject of interprofessional collaboration and see it as necessary for continuous quality improvement in healthcare organizations and other arenas. I just completed an introductory course to interprofessional collaboration and look forward to further education.
