Overview
The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education Office of Interprofessional Continuing Professional Developnent (National Center OICPD) is a Jointly Accredited Provider with Commendation of Interprofessional Continuing Education Credit, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. As a Jointly Accredited Provider, the National Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Through Joint Accreditation, the National Center OICPD is able to provide Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) credit to athletic trainers at its activities.
An important function within our interprofessional continuing education program is the external review of programs as part of the accreditation process. At this time, the National Center is seeking new members for this review Committee. As the professional community of the National Center, current AIHC members have an opportunity to participate in and contribute to this national-level Committee.
Expectations
Members of the IPCE Review Committee will provide expert review of continuing professional development activities under review for accreditation through the National Center. Members will be expected to participate in quarterly virtual meetings to review programs and make recommendations. Additional reviews will be requested via email throughout the year. The committee conducts review at two levels:
- External review of National Center directly-provided educational activities, and
- Summary review of educational activities submitted to the National Center by other organizations, and jointly provided by the National Center
Qualifications
The National Center is seeking applicants with experience facilitating and/or developing continuing professional development for health professions educators and/or practitioners. Specific areas of expertise may include evaluation and assessment, interprofessional practice, interprofessional education, continuing professional development, or quality improvement. While all professions are encouraged to apply, the National Center OICPD is seeking particular expertise in new members representing the professions of social work, medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and public health.
Time Commitment
New members are asked to make a two-year commitment to the Committee. On average, members will be asked for approximately 5-10 hours/quarter.
