What's Good For the Heart is Good for the Mind: The SPRINT-MIND Results

This presentation (1:12:00 minutes) by Mark A. Supiano discusses how cognitive impairment relates to the heart. By the end of this presentation, learners should be able to: (1) understand the cognitive impairment continuum and be able to define mild cognitive impairment and dementia; (2) recognize that the majority of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias have a vascular contribution -- Vascular Cognitive Impairment; and (3) become familiar with modifiable approaches to prevent cognitive impairment, including results from the SPRINT-MIND study. Dementia Care Transitions: Dead Ends, Detours, Denial

In this presentation (1:17:25 minutes),Troy Anderson discusses the challenges that can arise as we try to navigate the transitions that occur across the disease span in a dementia condition. He speaks about denial in a different way, almost as a defense mechanism rather than how we might view it in more normal terms. Slides are available to download. Promoting Healthy Hearing Over the Lifespan

Managing Multiple Chronic Conditions

This learning module focuses on Multiple Chronic Conditions (MCC). MCC is defined as having two or more chronic illnesses at the same time. It makes treating one illness at a time more difficult. The treatment goal should be the older adult's quality of life. The module is also available in Spanish.
