What you'll get from this toolkit

A wide array of tools that support and enrich interprofessional practice to enhance patient care, and professional development opportunities for clinical preceptors who facilitate interprofessional teams of learners. You can use any or all of the tools in a variety of settings- everything is customizable! The tools are available in a variety of formats:

web-based modules for preceptor development.
active-learning materials and facilitator guides for face-to-face workshops for preceptor development.
interprofessional education materials to be used with learners to enhance their practice experiences.
interprofessional collaborative practice materials and other resources being used across the country.

Who this toolkit is for

This toolkit will help preceptors in any healthcare profession who wish to precept interprofessional learners and/or champion interprofessional practice and education at their clinical site.

Please note that a National Center user account is required to access the online modules. A portion of this toolkit is also available for continuing education credit. To be enrolled within the CE portion, please contact ipceapps@umn.edu.

Preceptor as Learner

This package provides preceptors with an opportunity to develop skills for combining interprofessional education and collaborative practice. The modules are self-paced and can be used alone or as a four-part series. The group learning materials enhance and reinforce concepts in a face-to-face group session.

Get started with interprofessional precepting

Build a foundation of knowledge and skills in precepting interprofessional learners, facilitating interprofessional discussions, and enhancing interprofessional practice and education at your site.

Complete one or all of the short and self-paced online modules.

Continuing Education Credit for Online Modules?

Is continuing education credit going to offered for the online modules? I have clinical faculty whom we wnat to target with this training and it would be sweet to be able to offer them CE for completing the training as an incentive.

Thanks for your question, Emily. The National Center is currently pursuing CE accreditation for multiple professions. In the future we are planning to be able to offer CE credit for these and other online modules. Keep an eye out for CE-related announcements!

Just checking back in since it's been a few months. Is there any reportable progress on CE accreditation?

Thanks for your question. The National Center became a joint accreditor of interprofessional continuing education in December.

We have been preparing for processes for review and awarding credit as well as the infrastructure to support offering CE credit. Until we were awarded this status, we could not move this forward.

I will ask our team about timelines. Thanks for your interest.

Hello: I attended and have been waiting for my CE certificate for the in-person training as well as the pre-work online modules. Secondarily, the faculty at the training planned to share their PowerPoints to use to introduce students and faculty to interprofessional training and precepting. I haven't found those materials on this website or the UM Moodle page for the course. How do I get access to these materials?
