DIRECTOR OF INTERPROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is seeking to hire a qualified individual for the position of Director of Interprofessional and Continuing Medical Education. Our department is committed to promoting appreciation and consideration of diversity, broadly defined, across patient care, which includes the contributions of each member of the multidisciplinary health care team. We are actively searching for an individual who will provide oversight of department initiatives centered on integration of interprofessional education within multiple facets of the department. This oversight includes educational initiatives across the spectrum of activities related to pipeline programs, undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME) at both residency and fellowship levels, continuing medical education (CME), and involvement of allied health students in the Department.

Specifically, this individual will be involved in leading the following efforts:

• Leading an Office of Interprofessional and Continuing Medical Education to ensure infusion of interprofessional education into all relevant departmental programs.

• Maintaining current knowledge of the latest issues and practices in interprofessional and continuing education in medicine and related fields.

• Forming partnerships with individuals and groups, both within the university and the community, to promote interprofessional and continuing education into all relevant medical student, residency, fellowship, and faculty development programs within the department.

• Assisting in application for funding of interprofessional and continuing education training initiatives.

• Facilitating a departmental culture focused on teamwork, curiosity, constant improvement, and the promotion of learning and inclusion.

Consideration will be given to board-certified MD, DO, or PhD for a full-time or part-time position. Position is a twelve-month, open rank, open tenure faculty position. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
